Wisconsin Quilt Expo 2015

Written by Linda Chaney, mother

I've just returned from the Wisconsin Quilt Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, sponsored by the Wisconsin Public Television with Nancy Zieman. What a fantastic show with a variety of quilts, vendors, and educational opportunities!

The event included special quilt exhibits - such as Fall Leaves Quilt Challenge, The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts Four Seasons Quilted Yurt, Circles or Curves, and Fabric Storyscapes - as well as the judged quilts which were both traditional and modern in style.  It was exciting to see the small quilts stitched by young people, ranging in age from 6 years up. A variety of vendors and new products graced the aisles within the convention center. More information on two of those vendors will be posted in later blogs.

I gave an hour lecture  each day during the convention about our containers  -  showing the construction process and samples of each type of container found in our book Contain It!  English Paper-Pieced Style Accessories.  Thanks to all who attended and the enthusiasm shown for our containers. Perhaps next year I will teach a workshop!

A special recognition and thank you goes to my husband who accompanied me and was a wonderful chauffeur.  Since this was my first time to this show, we spent Thursday getting the lay of the land and he got quite an education on quilts.  He was allowed to bow out on Friday and Saturday.

No matter what, my plans are to mark the calendar to attend next year's show - September 8-10, 2016.
